Dumb Phones That Work on Verizon (Oct 2026)

Updated 2026-10-24

As of October 24, 2026, four phones in our catalog have a maker, retailer, or Verizon page saying they work on Verizon: the Mudita Kompakt, Sunbeam F1 Pro, Kyocera DuraXV Extreme+, and the sold-out Light Phone II. The Light Phone III is a partial yes for now: Light lists its Verizon certification as in progress.

From Elizabeth: I've used a dumb phone for three years, and I've been on Verizon the whole time. I tried the Light Phone 2 and found it slow and glitchy. I loved the Sunbeam Orchid and the Sunbeam F1 Pro. My phones activated on Verizon without trouble.

That's one person's experience. Apart from it, we haven't tested these phones on Verizon ourselves: the carrier facts below come from the makers', retailers', and Verizon's own pages, checked October 24, 2026. Each phone's page links to those sources.

Phones that list Verizon support

Mudita Kompakt. $399 for the North America version, listed in stock. A bar phone with a 4.3" E Ink touchscreen, a 3,300 mAh battery, 164 g, a headphone jack, and offline maps. Mudita lists Voice over LTE and Wi-Fi calling. Mudita says its tests in Chicago, Detroit, and Orlando confirmed the Global version works on Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile, and that the North America version is FCC/PTCRB certified. See the Mudita Kompakt page.

Sunbeam F1 Pro. $359 to $389 depending on which of its 13 models you pick; most models were in stock when we checked (Walnut and Poplar weren't). A flip phone with a 2.8" screen, a 2,200 mAh battery, 187 g, and a headphone jack. Sunbeam's coverage page marks calls, texts, picture messages, hotspot, Wi-Fi calling, and visual voicemail as working on Verizon, and Sunbeam's update notes say VoLTE is on by default. Features like hotspot and Waze vary by model, so check the model you want. See the Sunbeam F1 Pro page.

Kyocera DuraXV Extreme+. $250 at Verizon for the non-camera version; Verizon lists the camera version as no longer available, and the non-camera one as Express Pickup only, so store stock varies. A rugged flip phone rated IP68 and MIL-STD-810H, 193 g, with a removable 1,770 mAh battery, a hotspot, a headphone jack, and VoLTE. No maps, no app store, no WhatsApp or Signal. It isn't listed for AT&T or T-Mobile by Kyocera or by those carriers. See the Kyocera page.

Light Phone II (sold out). Light lists it at $299, but both the North American and international versions were sold out when we checked. It has an E-Ink screen, weighs 78 g, has no camera, supports VoLTE, and charges over Micro USB. Light says it works on Verizon postpaid plans only. See the Light Phone II page.

The Light Phone III on Verizon: partial for now

The Light Phone III is $899 unlocked, or from $59/month on a two-year Light Service contract. Light's page (checked October 24, 2026) says it began shipping in March 2025 and that a new pre-order is expected to deliver in late December 2026.

On Verizon, Light's compatibility checker (updated October 21, 2026) lists "Verizon (certification in progress)". Light says an already-active Verizon SIM works in the phone, but you can't activate a new Verizon line on it yet, and eSIM isn't available on Verizon yet. We show it as a partial match. See the Light Phone III page.

The prepaid catch

Light says the Light Phone II works on Verizon postpaid plans only, not Verizon prepaid or NumberShare.

Sunbeam lists which Verizon-network prepaid brands work with the F1 Pro: Tracfone, Straight Talk, Total, US Mobile Warp, and Page Plus work; Visible, Xfinity, Spectrum, and SafeLink don't.

Phones we couldn't confirm on Verizon

  • Light Flip ($349 unlocked pre-order): Light says new pre-orders ship in May 2027, and its checker lists Verizon certification as in progress.
  • Punkt. MC02 ($499, including 12 months of its subscription): Punkt publishes the phone's bands, not carrier support.
  • Nokia 2780 Flip (legacy): no longer sold new, and we no longer have a primary source for Verizon support.
  • Refurbished iPhone 16 ($659, Apple Certified Refurbished, unlocked): check with your carrier.

We show these as "unknown" in the phone table, not as "yes". The quiz treats unknown as a partial match, never as a pass.

Before you buy: check with Verizon

A maker listing Verizon support doesn't guarantee Verizon will activate that exact phone on your plan. Before you pay, ask Verizon to confirm the specific model works on your account, and check the seller's return policy in case it doesn't.

If you'd rather not buy anything yet, you can make the phone you already have quieter first: see Make Your iPhone a Dumb Phone With Screen Time or Make Your Android Phone a Dumb Phone With Digital Wellbeing.

Who this list isn't for

  • Verizon prepaid customers who want a Light phone. See above.
  • People who need WhatsApp or Signal. The Light Phone III, Light Phone II, and Kyocera don't have them. We haven't verified this for the others.
  • People who want a new Light Phone III this week. Light says new pre-orders are expected to deliver in late December 2026.

Not sure which fits? The quiz asks your carrier first and shows exactly how each phone scored (how scoring works).
